Rap music appeared in history at beginning of 70s from African groups who played drums. Rap music started to United States on the streets of New York City. Some Afro groups played drums on the streets. American DJ use combine drums music with disco from American clubs to play music that Americans call Hip Hop music. During the first years of rap music, people associated rap music with gangsters, sex and drugs. Many street groups adopted the rap music that affected other social classes. From 1979 started first rap school, where many artists developed rap music. Some representative rap artists were Afrika Bambaataa, Spoonie Gee, Funky Four Plus One, Treacherous Three, Kurtis Blow, Fab Five Freddy, Busy Bee Starski, Lovebug Starski, The Fat Boys and The Cold Crush Brothers.
Rap music had great success in 80s and 90s decades, a period that people has called golden age for rap music. Latino people from South America had a big influence on rap music. The writers of rap songs used poetry to compose text of songs. Kool DJ Herc was one of founders of Hip Hop music. He started playing raps to 1973 and combined different music styles. In the middle of 70s, Afrika Bambaataa had first recorded album with rap music. Blondie was a Hip Hop music artist that recorded "Rapture" album in 1980. His songs were listening to radio and his career just started. From 80s decades many rap artists combined rap with rock or dance. In 1992, people declared Mary J Blige as the queen of rap music because of her albums and music.
Run-D.M.C. was the first black group rap music that has a great impact around the United States with theirs albums. From 1978 appeared a new concept of rap music, the flow that means rhythms and rhymes. The flow schools teach about basic rhyming techniques and rhyme schemes. Rap music artist used different styles of flow like the Chant, Syncopated Bounce, Straight Forward, and The Rubik's Cube. Rap music has a great success to United States because of high numbers of recordings and albums sold. Today rap music has big success to young people with ages from 18 to 24. Twista is one of big American rap artists that have impact with hip-hop music over young people. Cypress Hill is another famous hip-hop group artist from United States that have success with his albums. Today rap music are first place on United States music because of albums and songs that have impact over many people.
